VTech, the creator of the Electronic Learning Products (ELP) category, is a world leader of age-appropriate learning toys.
Since 1976, VTech has been developing high-quality, innovative, educational products for children from birth to preteen that deliver “smart play” through the combination of entertaining electronic formats and engaging, age-suitable content that help children learn while having fun.
VTech will be releasing a new handheld touch screen learning system with a slide open QUERTY keyboard for children ages 3 to 8. This cool new educational toy will be available exclusively at Toys R Us stores starting June 7th for a retail price of $59.99. The device itself comes in blue/yellow/orange or pink/purple.
The touch screen understands several commands, including tap, drag, spin, and flick. The QUERTY keyboard is a good size for little hands, and the buttons are neither too difficult to press nor too easy to accidentally press. Given the prevalence of technology in our society, it makes sense that all toys have a QUERTY keyboard now. You can also connect your MobiGo to your computer to earn rewards, see your ranking against other players, and download other games.
It comes with one game cartridge, the Touch & Learn Game Pack, which has 6 mini games on it:
You can also purchase separate game cartridges, such as Toy Story 3, Dora the Explorer, Ben 10, NASCAR, Shrek 4, Mr. Men, and Super Hero Squad which retail for $19.99. There is also an optional carrying case for $14.99.
Brandon is 2 years and 3 months old, and he immediately knew what to do when the package was opened. We put some batteries in for him (you could also use the included AC adapter), and off he went. The touch screen is really intuitive, and his favorite game is Music Maestro because he loves pianos. Some of the games are keyboard-only, and some are touch screen only.
I think he will definitely be growing into this toy, and I can see this as a great distraction for traveling. There is a headphone jack for when you need to be in a quiet area. This is a great alternative to the handheld gaming devices out there, especially for younger children, and the fact that it is more educational than other games out there is a huge plus!

I was given a MobiGo by VTech for my review. I was allowed to keep the product, but the opinion I am sharing remains my own.
