About Happy Green Bee:

happygreenbee has a simple philosophy: clothing that is comfortable, colorful, playful and ecologically responsible. “We created Happy Green Bee so that a child can be a child, first and foremost,” Quimby explains. “By using organic cotton, a comfortable and practical fabric, and simple bee-striped patterns, children feel as comfortable as they look while their parents take a small step in making a big difference in the environment their children live in.”

Happy Green Bee was founded by the original founder of Burt’s Bee’s, Roxanne Quimby, who saw a need for more organic children’s clothing. Check out the company history to read more about their interesting story. Their clothing is all organic, which means:

No toxic residue on sensitive skin
No pesticides were used when growing the cotton (better for the environment)
No genetically engineered cotton seed

We were sent the Board Shorts to review. These shorts come in 3 fun colors – bean, sky, and watermelon. They are really soft, and are a perfect length for running around, climbing on things, and doing other crazy kid stuff. I always try to buy organic food for Brandon, but organic clothing is not as readily available. Sensitive skin runs in my family, and having organic clothing definitely helps to remove another risk factor especially since it’s touching your skin all day long. Hmmm, I’m having a hard time coming up with a story… my husband made fun of an organic t-shirt that our daughter has all the way up until he actually felt how much softer it is than “regular” clothing. Then he became jealous that his clothes don’t feel that nice!

We buy organic clothes and blankets when we can for our baby (it’s just not as regularly available as we’d like), but what we do most often is feed her organic food and use organic products on her. We’re not hard-core by any means about using organic products, it just makes us feel better about it when we do. We also buy alot of organic food for ourselves.

I started to buy organics right around the time my first child was born, over 8 years ago. About the same time I read a book about organic living which covered all aspects of life, not just food, and my eyes were completely opened and there was no turning back for me! I buy 99.9 organic for food and as much as possible elsewhere, constantly keeping my family’s, friends’ and the planet’s well-being in mind.

I would LOVE to see my son in the reversable hoodie in SKY Color he is a size 4/5. Being able to dress my son in items that I know are good for him as well as the worl he is growing up in are so important to me, it is just a work in progress baby steps.

We have so many people with allergies and sensitivities in our family, we try to go organic whenever possible. Our allergies range from carrots, to unfinished wood, to nuts, soy, pineapple, and on and on. We even have to be careful with the organic products we use. We have to read every label. My organic story is even organics can be complicated for us.

I’ve started buying raw, organic honey because it’s soooo yummy. It also has healing properties. My son burned his hand, and we used honey and gauze bandages — healed it right up! (Note: I am not a medical doctor and don’t recommend this method for severe burns, but it seriously did work for a moderate one!)
