Ok, so I’m super stressing about preschools right now! Brandon is going to be 2 in March, and I already have to stress about this?? How much earlier can this start? In the womb?? Haha. Everyone I’ve talked to is already standing in line, or on a wait list, or already enrolled in their 2’s program. Some of them are 2 days a week, some are half day, some are every day, all the different teaching methods, is he going to be ready for this in September? OMG.
Anyway, for your extra entry, tell me a story (you know how I love stories) about preschool – yours, your kids’, your friends’ kids, love it, hate it, whatever. Leave a comment on any giveaway, but just one please for this extra entry. Cross your fingers for me, as I’ve just sent my husband to go wait in line to get us on the wait list so we can pay the application fee for a CHANCE to get in.

Don’t worry! My 2.5 year old is only signed up already because the school registers everyone in January even if they’re starting in September. The class size is limited to 10 kids (it’s out of a woman’s home, although licensed and everything) and it’s Japanese immersion. Twice a week maximum, 4 hours each day. On our information packet we saw something about a Christmas play in December and my husband almost teared up at the thought – our little baby, in a play! They grow up so fast! I hope B gets into your first choice!
That wasn’t much of a story so I’ll tell you that I was given a behavior warning in preschool, had my parents called in and everything, because I wasn’t assertive enough when playing with other children. If another kid grabbed my toy, I would just let him take it and shrink away. See what a delicate flower I was? Ha. So my mom started babysitting some other kids to help me socialize better. One of the kids would bite other kids, so later I got *another* behavior warning at preschool…

I always heard neighbors and friends getting their newborns on waiting lists to attend preschool. That is just too serious for me. I never had any problem, luckily, getting any of my 3 girls into a pre-k. My only dilemma at the moment is with my last child’s pre-k where the founders, a couple of moms who started the French school are looking to absolve themselves of the pre-k program and just continue directing the primary school program. We, parents and teachers, just met with them a few days ago and they told us to either search for a new director or form a co-op or other association to keep the school running. Talk about dropping a big burden on us! I understand that they wish to move on, especially with their children now in the primary grades, but it is truly an overwhelming proposition! Now…where should we start looking for a director?
Good luck with your son and pre-k.

oh, i didn’t know you were looking! c is in a great preschool. they have 2 programs- english, and also chinese/english immersion. c is in the engiish one b/c you have to be 3 to enroll in the chinese immersion program and at the time, she was only 2. but they have an optional (for extra money, of course) chinese class that the kids can take twice per week. c just started that and loves it. also, it’s a montessori school, which i think it just awesome for younger kids as the classroom are mixed ages, and someone like B could learn from the older kids, absorbing everything like a sponge!
there’s a waiting list for the school, though i don’t think it’s long. i wish i had known earlier that you were looking cuz the school just did an open house. anyways, email me if you want to know more details about it.
good luck to you! hope you find an amazing school for little B!
p.s. our baby A just recently got into their infant daycare program. she was on the waiting list for that since before she was born- only 3 months in utero. and she *just* got in 2 weeks ago! :p
