About Frecklebox:
One guy’s name is Scott. The other one is Mark. Both guys dove into the baby making business over a decade ago. Even before that, in partnership, they created a printing and distribution business called Progressive Solutions. Both their kids and their company inspired Frecklebox. You see, as parents, these guys take the job of expanding their children’s minds very seriously. And as business people, they’ve been on a relentless mission to explore the possibilities of web-based digital printing. Presto. Frecklebox was born. Hopefully, a great big Frecklehead family will follow.
I used to work at a company that did custom printing, so I’ve seen my fair share of customized products. However, Frecklebox really sets themselves apart by providing lots of kid-centric, easy-to-use templates on cool products that kids want. I’ll let their products do the talking, and you’ll see what I’m talking about. You can create personalized story books, personalized stickers, personalized placemats, personalized growth charts, personalized coloring books, and lots more! You can even customize stuff you never thought you could customize, like puzzles, coloring books, school folders, posters, lunchboxes, and clipboards!
Frecklebox sent us a customized “My Name is Brandon” story book, and a customized Brandon growth chart! When you create a custom book, the website will ask you a few questions in order to customize your book. Each book has different areas that get customized. For instance, there is a book called “Guess Who’s Going to be a Big Brother?” where you can even upload your own picture into the book. Once you begin the customization process, you get to flip through the book and see each page exactly as it will be printed. The book itself is made with very thick, durable pages, and you can choose a hard or soft cover.
I love the customized growth charts! They are made of high quality canvas material, and come carefully package in a cardboard tube. Each end has a wooden dowel in it, and it comes with a beautiful ribbon to hang it. The only thing you have to provide is the nail. You can choose the name and the number that shows up on the jersey. I’m fortunate that my mom is a great seamstress, so my kids have a nice collection of personalized clothing and fun sewn toys. Recently, she made my 3-year-old a cloth tool belt with great pictures and little pockets for her tools!

I had a onesie from Pottery Barn personalized with my son’s name before he was born. I gave it to my fiancee about a week before our son was born and he literally cried. He though that was the coolest thing. Our son wore it once. Now we have it hanging in a really pretty picture frame about our bed.

I think the only time that I personally have ever personalized anything for my kids was their hats at Disneyland. I named them strange names, though, so they have received lots of custom personalized items (shirts, blankets, a spoon) from sympathetic family members.

My kids love the crayola color wonder products… and so do i! They are mess free and they have tons of items, like markers and paint sets!! They feel they are getting away with murder when they paint with the color wonder products cuz Im not right on top of them!

I never used my “crafty” extra entry! Hmm… my 14-month-old just likes to toss things around, so that’s not helpful (although she’s gotten okay at coloring a little bit). But my 3-year-old loves any type of craft: painting, coloring, gluing, etc. A fun one is when we have something delivered and she spends forever turning a cardboard box into a bed or a boat or any number of other things. I turn her loose with her imagination, maybe some fabric or markers and she’s good!

Since my daughter’s name is “Faith”, we have a ton of things that are quasi-personalized (ie. have her name on it). Personally, I have a piece of jewelry that has both my son’s and daughter’s name on it. But I love to have things personalized, and I know we’ll be getting things actually personalized for Faith. Right now, she’s still an infant, but I would love to get the lunch box for when she starts school!

For Valentine’s day, my husband and I will be going out to a romantic dinner (actually, a restaurant that I saw on Food Network, so I’m excited!). We’re not really exchanging gifts this year, but the time alone will be plenty for me. We get a break because “Lola’s” (grandma) is coming to watch the baby! YAY!

For Valentine’s Day… my hubby and I actually went out to dinner last night to Buca Di Beppo… love that Italian restaurant… we went last night cuz we had a snowstorm headed our way… we are still getting hit hard! Also… hubby is deploying on Tuesday so we had to go out before all the predeployment stuff starts! I also came home to a dozen roses is a pink red and white polka dot vase! =)
