Let me start by saying this is by far the best monitor I’ve seen available on the market today. I *highly* recommend that all parents purchase a monitor, whether it be the top of the line model listed here, or another model with fewer bells and whistles.
When Brandon was first born, we decided that our house is so small that we wouldn’t need a monitor. Besides, he couldn’t sit up or even roll over yet. I’m sure you’ve all heard stories like this, but one day he was sleeping, and I put him down in the middle of our King size bed while I went to the bathroom. The next thing I knew, I heard a big THUMP and I knew it wasn’t good. My heart dropped, and I ran as fast as I could to find a screaming baby on the floor. Luckily, we have carpet and our bed isn’t that high, and he wasn’t hurt but just scared. The first thing we did was purchase Summer Infant Bedrails and the Day & Night Flat Screen Color Video Monitor.
I keep it by my computer so I can have an eye on him at all times now. There are so many great features about this monitor. First and foremost, the image quality is great, and the flat screen is huge at 7″. It also works really well at night when there is no light at all (you will see black and white, as shown), or during the day (you’ll see full color). You can see a little bar across the top, where it shows you a visual representation of the sound with lights. It’s showing one light right now (green), and once there is noise, you’ll see the lights increase all the way to the far right in red. This way, if you can’t hear the monitor for some reason, or if you choose to turn the sound off, you can still see the representation of the sound with the lights.
Of course, there is also full volume and light control, so you can turn it down when you are sleeping. There are 2 channels (A/B) that you can choose from so that if you’re getting interference on one channel, you can use the other, though we haven’t had any issues with interference. And there’s an easy on/off button on the top – like a snooze button – when you just want to turn it off while you’re sleeping. The flat screen monitor swivels up, down, left, and right, and can be mounted. The camera itself also swivels in all directions and can also be mounted.
The Complete Coverage Model is one step above that, and comes with a portable 1.8″ handheld battery-powered unit that you can keep with you while you’re running around the house picking up toys. It also has a little kick stand that allows you to prop it up wherever you are. This little unit is SO helpful so you don’t have to be tied to one location and can still have peace of mind that you can see your little one.
My parents watch Brandon 4 days a week, and my Mom kept saying that she didn’t need a monitor, it’s too expensive, she can hear him just fine because her house is really quiet. As soon as she plugged this in, she was addicted and wondered how she ever lived without one! She now recommends this monitor to everyone!
The only feature that this monitor doesn’t have is a web cam ability, but if you want a web cam, just buy a web cam.

Our currant monitor… Well… I was trying to be nice and not have someone spend a lot of money when our first child was born. NOW I wish I had just registered for a video monitor it would save sooooo many trips to the nursry to check on sleeping babies. We are on baby #3 so they would have gotten their moneys worth out of it!

I actually bought a small video monitor at a garage sale a while ago… and it was immediately the best thing ever! Until it stopped working. Once you have one of these you’re just like your mom and you wonder how life worked before it, so now I feel like we’re worse off than we were before!

Right now our baby is co-sleeping, and daytime naps I keep her close to me. But in the future when we move her to her own room, we definitely would like the peace of mind of having a baby monitor. This monitor looks great! It would definitely make me feel at ease to be able to watch her on a screen.

I never bought a monitor with my daughter because I lived in a mobile home and really didn’t feel the need to have one. Now that my daughter and I are moving to a bigger house it would be really nice to have this monitor to keep an eye on here while I’m doing my daily chores.

we don’t typically need a monitor sinc ewe can usually hear the cries loud and clear if we’re in the house. however, we’ve found we can’t hear them well when we are in the basement or outside.

A story about my monitor…. well, it’s probably the best baby shower gift I received!!! It’s so nice to be able to hear the baby wherever you are in the house, or even if I have to step outside, the monitor can go with me and I can make sure he is ok. My current monitor is old and is only an audio monitor. What a blessing to have a video monitor to not only hear what is going on in your babies room, but see it, too!!! Fortunately, I don’t have a horror story to tell. I am an overly-protective mother, so a monitor was always a must-have for me. Thank you so much for the chance to win the VIDEO monitor!!

I’ve been searching and trying to find a video monitor since my 5 year old had a seizure a few months ago while she was sleeping. We picked up an audio monitor, but my fear is she’ll have another seizure and we won’t be able to hear her, so any noise that sounds odd we are running to her room to make sure she’s okay on nights we allow her to sleep alone.

My kids room is right next to mine so we don’t have a monitor although we plan on moving and the bedrooms are farther apart plus my son is a really light sleeper and he’ll probably be rooming with his twin sister I would love to check on them without waking them up.

we also live in a small house ad did not think we needed a baby monitor. when we had to sleep train ryall at 9 mos it became so important to be able to see him…. and now i love that in the middle of the night i can see him sleeping peacefully.
our monitor is nowhere near as good as this one, would love to upgrade!

All I have is a plain monitor with no video. A couple weeks after baby was born we dropped one of the receivers and now we only have 1. We have to take it from room to room to plug in since it is not wireless. We could really use this awesome video one!

I only had the audio units. The video monitor is SO great!!! I have had sick kids and you really dont know what is truly going on without the video. Kids can quietly get “sick” if you know what I mean. I have felt SO bad walking back into my poor little ones’ sitting or laying in a mess. THAT is just the worst. AND, who knows what can happen if they choke in this situation and you cant hear them?Scary…

well I have a monitor… but it is just a sound monitor. It often has static and i hear weird sounds sometimes. It makes me want to turn it down. once I turned it down and didn’t hear little man crying in the am. Another would be the time he was so super upset that somehow in about 2 minutes he climbed out of his crib and came running into the living room where I just sat down. I wish I had a monitor to see how he did it.

We didn’t have enough money to buy a monitor when my son was first born so we didn’t end up getting one until he was about 2 months old. Because of that, I never put him in his crib to sleep unless I was upstairs while he was napping. Now we are struggling with sleeping issues still. Also, now my son is 18 months old and he loves to unplug the monitor and knows how to turn it off and change the channels.

We had a video monitor when my daughter was an infant (thought not nearly as nice as this one!) and we lugged it around to friend’s houses when we put her down elsewhere. At one friend’s house, however, her young son was looking at it and suddenly banged one of the connecting wires and the video unit no longer works. There is a small sound monitor but I would feel much better having another video monitor for our son (due in 2 months)!

I love their gates! So much more attractive than the plastic type I’ve always had. I saw that Kiddopotamus has joined Summer as well, I loved the Kiddopotamus bunting I used when my son was tiny one.

I always had my baby close enough to me I didn’t use it much, but it offered the security of knowing I could hear him if I needed too. A story – we took the monitor with us on vacation to visit family and forgot the power chord. That’s when I realized how useful it was!

Well, my story is a lack of because I don’t own any monitor. If I win this set it would be for my dear sister who is expecting her second baby. She lives in a 2 story home and she just runs herself to death going up and down the stairs to check on the baby, so for her second baby, I would LOVE to win this for her. Just to give her a little piece of mind.

I don’t have a monitor. I would love one. I have a 3 month old son and there is six years between my boys, so my first monitor was loaned out and never returned and then we moved when I was 9 months pregnant so we just weren’t able to get everything we needed for our baby. What a nice monitor. I love Summer infant products!

We were also in the camp of “we don’t need a monitor”, but quickly found that it was nice to be in another room with television volume at a normal level without wondering if we were missing anything. At first our monitor (the cheapest one with ok reviews we could find) was fine, but it continued to give us increased static (strangely, due to crappy battery connections in the handheld unit) and frustrations. We would love to have a new one for this next one!

The batteries in our old monitor go out constantly. So unless the parent units are on a charger, they don’t work. We also get a lot of noise feedback from monitor.

The monitor we are currently using is one that I saved from our last child (he is now 6 yrs old). I thought it would be ok and we would not need to spend the money on a new monitor. Well I guess I should not have been such a “tight-wad” with the money because this thing is surely dated! I pick up all sorts of electrical interference (from what I have no idea) and I can’t even hear our son when he makes noise. So I have been running back and forth to the bedroom every 5-7 minutes to check on him while he is sleeping. Not very nice when I am trying to get something done.

As a nanny, these video monitors were a life saver! I cared for an especially fussy sleeper who would always wake when the door was opened so it was nice to be able to keep an eye on her with the monitor. Now I’m having my own little one and would love the same benefit!

I have the fisher price monitor that you attach to the crib and it vibrates to help sooth the baby to sleep, only my husband didn’t attach securely enough and it fell off into the crib when we turned it on. Would love to have a monitor with the video feature.

I didn’t have a monitor when my son was born. I was so paranoid that I would set my watch to go off every 15 minutes (so that I could check on him) while he was asleep. (New moms…phssh… they’re such amateurs.)
