Looking for the perfect coffee maker for the coffee addict in your life? Capresso has a great selection of unique coffee makers, espresso machines, grinders, and water kettles. I stopped drinking coffee after I got pregnant, so I’ll let my coffee-addicted husband take over the rest of this review.
Here’s Tim…
First off, let me say that I truly love coffee. I drink about 3 double-shot cappuccinos per day. Usually I’d buy them from Starbucks which was costing a pretty penny very quickly. Over the course of a year, I’d easily spend thousands of dollars there. However, I recently have switched to 1 cappuccino per day, plus coffee; the reason for the switch was that I learned that coffee has more caffeine than espresso drinks! Saving money helped out me make the switch as well!
Luckily we just had a chance to review the Capresso 464 CoffeeTeam GS 10-Cup Digital Coffeemaker with Conical Burr Grinder. I have had many, many coffee machines such as Mr. Coffee and all of the other manual machines where you have to grind the coffee separately and then poor the grinds into a paper filter.
However, this is my first experience with a grind and brew machine and I’m loving every minute of it. First off, I can throw my grinder away since this machine handles it for me. Secondly, I don’t have to measure the number of beans since the machine figures out how many beans to grind based on the number of cups to brew that I selected. You can select about 5 ground settings based on the type of coffee you’re using, or the type strength of the coffee you want.
Moreover, the conical burr grinders do a better job of producing grounds than any external grinder will do. This is because they operate slowly, which imparts minimal heat, thus preserving all of that lovely aroma and taste that you expect from good cups of coffee. (I can overlook the fact that the grinder is loud and it takes a while, but that comes with the territory when you’re using a burr grinder, and if that’s what produces good grounds, I’m fine with that.)
I also especially liked that I can remove the carafe before the brewing process is done, since I can’t wait for the entire brew to finish.
Lastly, there is a charcoal water filtration mechanism (which you’d expect on higher end brewers) that removes 82% of chlorine and other junk from your water. (Hopefully you’re not using tap water!) This model comes with one filter.
It is available at specialty and online retailers including Sur La Table and amazon.com. The actual retail price is $189.99.
