I wrote previously about one of Patch Products’ other games, Pass the Pup (giveaway ends 11/30).  I’m happy to be doing another review/giveaway for Patch Products!  This time, they sent over the Überstix ÜberPult and their newest board game, Know It or Blow It.

Überstix ÜberPult

Überstix (Build It, Float It, Fly It) is part of Patch Products’ “Science Project Series.”  The thing I love most about Uberstix is that they can either work independently, or integrate with other construction systems you already have around the house, like Lego, K’NEX, TinkerToys, and Mega Bloks.  You can also use other recyclable materials you have around the house, such as plastic spoons, water bottles, milk cartons, and popsicle sticks.  This toy really allows kids to use their imagination to build something unique and special that they can be proud of.  The fun part is that they actually DO something.

This particular one is called ÜberPult, which is a super cool catapult that really works.  You can experiment with longer or shorter arms, different angles, and different hinges.  They also provide a lab sheet for you to record your results.  Perfect for budding physics majors!    These toys are designed for children 8 and up (and for husbands).  The catapult itself only requires 90 of the 181 pieces, so you can use the remaining pieces to customize it as you like.  Überstix has a huge following, and you can even become a Facebook Fan.

Know It or Blow It

This is a team trivia game for ages 10+, and contains 300 question cards on topics from primary colors to 5 great lakes to Santa’s 8 reindeer.  Based upon the place on the board you land on, you’ll have to answer a question with either 3/4 answers, 5/6 answers, or 7+ answers.  If you answer correctly, you get the points for your team, but if you don’t know all of the answers, you can pass.  However, if you answer WRONG, then you lose all your team’s points for the round!  No pressure!    Our family is very competitive and loves trivia games.  I love that this game has questions that are easy enough for 10 year olds to feel like they are contributing to the team, but has questions that will still stump adults.  Know It or Blow It retails for $25.
