B loves when I sing him songs with hand motions. Even though he doesn’t say many words yet, he is able to learn the hand motions to the songs. Unfortunately, I’m a horrible mom and I don’t know very many songs with hand motions! He loves Itsy Bitsy Spider (his first sign was spider), the My Gym Hello and Goodbye songs, and this patty-cake-type rhyme I used to sing with kids at school on the playgound when I was little… I don’t even know if I have all the words right, but I think it goes:
Miss Sue, Miss Sue, Miss Sue from Alabama, Her real name’s Susianna. Sitting in a rocker, eating Betty Crocker, watching the clock go tick-tock, tick tock banana rock, tick-tock, tick tock banana rock. ABCDEFG, wash those suds right off of me. Moonshine, moonshine, I see my mommy. Moonshine, moonshine, oops I’m sorry. Moonshine, moonshine… freeze!
B is starting to do the “tick-tock” motions with his hands now.
I’ve been looking for other songs I can sing him with hand motions, but the only thing I could find was this about.com page. Anyone have any suggestions? What are your kid’s favorite songs with hand motions?
