See Kai Run Shoes

I had very simple requirements (or so I thought) for Brandon’s first shoes:

• Soft, flexible, but supportive soles
• Soft, breathable leather uppers that will break-in well
• Not too heavy
• Easy on, not too easy off
• Something cute! 

After looking around everywhere and settling on a pair of Stride Rite shoes, I quickly realized that they were way too heavy, the soles were too stiff, it took forever to tie the shoelaces (any amount of time is too long for a 1 year old), and his poor little feet couldn’t breathe.  Even though he was starting to walk, as soon as I put the Stride Rite shoes on him, he acted like they were cement bricks and refused to take a step.   My friend Jen recommended See Kai Run (thanks Jen!).  Here are a few super cute boys shoes:

We’ve had the Grayson sandal for a long time now, and they are the shoes Brandon learned how to walk in.  Brandon has wide feet (extra-wide, according to the last kids shoe store that measured his feet), so See Kai Run was immediately one of our first choices because they do have a wider footbed.  I love that they are so soft, breathable, and flexible.  They always say that kids learn how to walk better when they are barefoot, but since they need to protect their feet, this is definitely the next best thing!

See Kai Run was kind enough to let us review a pair of their wonderful shoes.  I picked the Forrest shoe, because soon summer will be over, and he will need a pair of actual shoes (not just sandals).   I love that they have easy-access velcro, but the 2 straps make it really hard for Brandon to take them off.  If you want your kid to be able to take on and off his own shoes, you should pick a pair with one strap.

The leather is SO soft, and even without socks, Brandon’s feet never get stinky.  We’ve gotten so many wonderful comments from friends and strangers on how soft and cute his shoes are!  I highly recommend these shoes to everyone I know, especially while your child is learning to walk.   See Kai Run is definitely on my Top 10 list of must-buys for your child.
