best easter baskets / mother’s day gifts

i didn’t really grow up with easter baskets.  we did the whole egg coloring thing, and hiding the eggs.  not so much on the plastic eggs with stuff inside.  “the easter bunny” never came to our house.  however, my husband used to get all KINDS of great easter gifts, baskets, candy, toys, etc.  he said his mom used to hide action figures in some of the large plastic eggs, and sometimes there would be money inside too!  what a great idea, because if you forget where one of the real eggs was hidden, you’re in for a stinky surprise in a few days…

anyway, if i WERE to get an easter gift (or mother’s day, which is coming right up), i sure wouldn’t mind getting one of these:

1. sucre’s easter basket ($39) with handmade marshmallows (various flavors), handmade cotton candy, dark chocolate caramel eggs, jelly beans (not a huge fan, actually) and a milk chocolate bunny.  yummmm!  oprah also raves about their macaroons.

2.  easter egg cookie pail ($24.99) by cookiesbydesign.  i’ve had these cookies before, and they are awesome!   yummy!  who wants flowers when you could get cookies!?!  i’m all for beautiful flowers (from the farmer’s market or costco!), but if you’re gonna spend extra money for something to be delivered, i’d prefer that i can either eat it or wear it.    which brings me to #3….

3.  edible arrangements sweetheart bouquet ($34).  mmm… chocolate covered strawberries!  i wish they had an organic version of this, but i’ll make an exception for special occasions. 

4. crumbs cupcake sampler ($18 for 12-pack).  this is the place that suri cruise loves so much in la.  get it delivered to your doorstep!  i also love kara’s cupcakes and sprinkles cupcakes.  mmm, cupcakes.
